Why we love it: A great value alternative if you're not going with Arcadia. We link the 34" / 39W size, which fits a standard 4-foot enclosure — check your fixture length before ordering, and replace the tube every 6–12 months even if it still lights up.

Halogen Flood Bulb (50W)

Standard halogen flood bulbs make excellent basking lights. Much cheaper than branded reptile basking bulbs.

Why we love it: We use a simple PAR38 halogen flood from the hardware store. Same heat output, fraction of the price. Just make sure it is halogen or incandescent, never LED — LEDs give off light but almost no heat, so they will not make a proper basking spot.
